bordertown is a literary magazine that showcases the creative writing of students at Missouri Southern State University. Published annually, it is organized by students and sponsored by the faculty of the English department. bordertown's mission is to find talented writers on the MSSU campus, offer an opportunity for students to express creativity, and be heard and immortalized in the annals of MSSU. The 2010 magazine is underway, and the staff encourages all students to participate by submitting their works.
All of the works currently featured on this page come from the 2009 edition of bordertown.

Submission Guidelines
Thank you for your submissions.
Poetry
Poetry
- Maximum of 5 submissions.
- Use 12 point font unless creatively necessary.
- Double or single space.
- Maximum of 2 submissions.
- Maximum length of 2500 words.
- May follow any prose style.
- Use 12 point font.
- Double space.
- All work must be presented with a cover sheet.
- Include your name, phone number, and e-mail address.
- Do not place your name on your submissions.
- Dr. Joey Brown’s drop box, room 300 in Hearnes Hall.
- E-mail brown-jr@mssu.edu and send your files as a Word attachment.
- Joan Kearney, the secretary of the English Department in Hearnes Hall.
